This course (#: 0006899) is now approved for CEUs by the Board of Professional Surveyors and Mappers, a division of Florida's Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation.   (DBPR CE Provider #0003257)

Course Description

In this training course students will learn the field codes used in creating automatic linework with Autodesk Survey. Students will learn the procedures for downloading data collectors and importing that data into Land Desktop using Autodesk Survey. Students will learn to build an existing ground Terrain Model from surveyed points and breaklines.

Course Benefits

Vastly improve the speed and accuracy of your base map production. Reduce the effort required to create your existing ground terrain models. There is virtually no impact on your field crew. To start, the crew chief only needs to learn 2 line codes to add to his point descriptors. Line codes are only required on a few shots so the field crew won't get bogged down with extra typing. The rest is automatically processed in the office in just a few easy steps.  No more will you play "connect the dots" for hours and hours. The most important part is the crew chief makes the decisions where the lines should be drawn resulting in fewer interpretation errors.  Less time is spent processing field data. Less time is spent drawing lines in the office. Less time is spent producing Terrain Models. At the same time accuracy is improved.

Productivity Goals

Collect survey data with coded figure commandin the descriptors
Produce an EG terrain model from the survey data

Training Topics

Using Linework Commands in the Field

Converting Data Collector Files to .FBK vs. ASCII

Converting Linework to Breaklines

Setting up Project Prototypes

Building EG Surfaces

Using Breakline Commands

Checking for Errors in EG Terrain Models

Note:  This training requires Autodesk Survey which is an add on module to Land Desktop.

Types of Training

Hands-On Training is usually done in small groups of 2 to 6 people in a conference room using your computers. The data we use can be one of your completed projects.  Another option is to setup your instrument and go collect some data.   We then bring that data collector back into the office to produce a drawing using the automated linework procedures.

Over-the-shoulder Training is a one-on-one session where I help you or your survey tech work through a live project.
